Just when you think you’ve seen the best, the ELR diesel Gala just takes you one step further. Attended by more people than any other diesel event on the ELR, this was without doubt a tribute to all the planning undertaken, and a great time was had by all. Watch and Wonder!

The event started on Wednesday, and climaxed on Sunday. Each day was themed as follows:

Wednesday : Hydraulic day

Thursday : Sulzer Day

Friday : English Electric Day

Saturday : Mega Mix 4 Day

Sunday : Visitors Day

The E.L.R. fleet was only missing 47 ‘Gateshead’, and the Teddy Bear, which was in for major overhaul, and was supplemented by the M.S.C. 0-6-0 shunter, which was also available for foot-plate experience. The event was enhanced by some wonderful visitors, mainly from D.R.S. and Freightliner : 20312, 20313 and 37608; 66544, 66552, 57004 with the lone representative from Riviera Trains 47839, and Harry Needles immaculate 37194. Our dedicated team of camera men once again were able to cover all the events from Rawtenstall to Bury. The spirited performances from all the participants are well represented, and our programme here has something for every diesel enthusiast.
