Volunteers are the secret weapon that have made the E.L.R. a nationally admired institution. Peter Waterman came to the interchange, to name a Metrolink tram ‘East Lancashire Railway’. This now circulates the network, and advertises the E.L.R. to help boost the profile of the railway to all who visit Greater Manchester
May, and a very well attended 37’s day found our 3 newly refurbished 37’s working all day. Singling, double headed, and the final train of the day was triple headed. The weather remained superb all day. Shear Magic!
An Ambassador of the first order. Our resident class 40 40145 has picked up a lot of main line work this year. Being named ‘East Lancashire Railway’ makes this our main line equivalent of the Metrolink tram. Starting at Rawtenstall the train ran via Manchester Victoria. to Aberystwth. Our cameras were able to follow the run and the return.
