February - March 1996 - The materials used in this part of the video have previously been available on another AVV video. The materials have however been remixed. The occurrence of this first ever Stanier Pacific on the E.L.R. is well documented. Shots from the February steam event, the photographers charter, and the foot-plate experience courses all serve to show the magnificence of this N.R.M. locomotive. The final return of the Duchess through Patricroft station finishes this first chapter.

August 1997 - March 1998 - This second extended visit to the E.L.R. was no less popular than the first, but it did enable the Duchess to be chartered for several photographers specials. The Duchess appeared in all the steam events (October, January & February), and was resplendent in a new coat of green paint for its final months on the railway. The locomotive is featured in many of the photo specials on the E.L.R. hauling a nine coach train, with 'Royal Scot' head and tail boards, and with the 'Caledonian' headboard. AVV cameras were very fortunate to record events on the foot-plate during one of the runs from Bury to Ramsbottom.

The final days running of the Duchess on the E.LR. on the 21st March 1998 was very emotional, and was a final chance for the 'Friends of the NRM', and the benefactors of the Duchess to take a last run on this famous locomotive, before its return to the NRM for display to the Nation.
