A Review Of 2007 On The E.L.R.

2007 is the 20th anniversary of passenger services to Ramsbottom and is celebrated in style here on the E.L.R. In retrospect it has been one of the most successful years ever on the Railway.

Our programme starts in November ’06 and the construction of the long awaited canopy at Ramsbottom. Sulzer day is followed by a stunning January steam event featuring newly turned out 850 ‘Lord Nelson’. Repairs to the level crossing at Ramsbottom saw English Electric Day with 55022 ‘Royal Scots Grey’. The March steam event had a Great Western flavour with ‘City of Truro’, and 5643 in action. The mostly unseen Carillion contract for the re-newal of the Metro Link is covered in detail, with an evening run behind our then resident 60 on a LWR train.

The 1940’s Wartime Weekend was beyond fantastic, and 3 complementary 1940’s locos were on hand. Standard 4 No 76079 was rebuilt through winter, and is seen in its first run in out June steam event. The July MEGA MIX featured resident and visiting diesels with 20’s 26’s and a visiting Western 1015. July was our month for the 20th anniversary celebrations and are covered in detail, with the naming and dedication of 2 locos in honour of 2 of our members. The September diesel event was rainy re-enactment of the July diesel event, and a precursor to one of the best attended October events in the last 20 years, featuring 4771 ‘Green Arrow’ and GWR ‘Kinlet Hall’. Main Line running of the first AC electrics on the main line is seen at Wigan, and 76079 and 45407 are seen on tracks around Manchester.

This is a must watch DVD for any railway enthusiast….DON’T MISS IT!
