A Review Of 2009 On The E.L.R.
The re development of the Castlecroft shed in Bury is featured following a 2.5 million pound investment. The photo charter from 2008 and 2009 with the K4 61994 is detailed, as are the two main steam events in January and February. The Diesel events of March, June and October pulled very large crowds, and all the main locomotives are seen in action. The rebuilding of 44871 by Mr Ian Riley has gone ahead with great pace, and the significant rebuild of the boiler and firebox can be seen in detail. In side the steam sheds 42765, and 45337 rebuilds have also progressed, and much of the work undertaken on 71000 is featured. This year was the first appearance of Jimmy the Jinty and friends, and with the introduction of Halloween Express the railway is certainly breaking new ground. Our very popular 1940’s weekend in May drew record crowds, and a repeat in September was also very successful. W55001 undertook its first passenger earning services after arriving from Northampton. This DVD is testimony to the many volunteers who make the East Lancs one of the best Preserved Railways in the country.
Sit back and enjoy the sight and sounds of the E.L.R. at its best!
