Steam On The E.L.R. June 2002 - February 2003

June 2002 Steam Railway Gala Sponsored by Steam Railway, our first ever June Event was a major success. The appearance of 6201 after overhaul proved a crowd pleaser, along with open house at our Steam Sheds and the Standard 4 sheds. The Pug 51218 also proved very popular on footplate experience.

October 2002 Steam Event - It appeared that everything conspired against us for this event. 42765 had gone down with valve failure, 6201, 71000, and 5690 were not available. The arrival of 45212, and 75029 ‘Green Knight’ from the NYMR gave us the opportunity to sample 2 Black Fives and 2 Standards in various combinations. Sunday was atrocious weather.

January 2003 Steam Event - Leander was almost ready for main line duty, and runs the Heywood branch are featured. 5690 appeared on the steam shuttles to the steam sheds. Goods trains operated , and 45157, 76079, and 42765 gave good account of themselves. 6201 had sadly been damaged by a bridge in Salford. Tangmere had just been rebuilt, and its first revenue earning services are caught for all to admire. A SUPERB turnout.

February 2003 Steam Event - Leander was ready to stretch his legs, and accompanied 42765, 76079 and 45157 on services all the way to Rawtenstall. Tangmere had worked to Rawtenstall the week previously, and was in excellent condition… views not to be missed.

General 2002 – 2003 - Our cameras have recorded many of the developments on the ELR over this period and so the running of 62005 and the main line steam fleet are recorded on this 3 hour video.

Approximate Running Time - 180 Minutes
