W55001 Reborn In Bury

W55001 was rescued form Longsight depot in Manchester and moved to Pitsford and Brampton on the Northampton and Lamport Railway. Here it waited and watched as sister DMU W55001 was brought back into pristine condition. Its future was however in its return to the East Lancashire Railway in April 2008 where repairs began immediately. Our views show the history of this unit, and detail the full renovation to operating condition here at the ELR.

By May 2009 the unit had already run on the ELR as a route learning vehicle in departmental service with the Guards Department at the ELR, and then following a speedy refit internally and a repaint into BR blue the unit was ready for service.

We see it operating as a special for the Line Crew on the ELR, and its first active event on the Llangollen DMU event in May 2009.

Ever wondered just how much effort goes into the renovation of such a unit, then this DVD gives you all the ups and downs. The return to service is without doubt a most satisfying experience, as all the smiles on the programme show.

The renovation of this unit has been funded through the profits from the sale of Videos and DVD’s from Atlantic Video View.

So it a very big thank you to you for your help and support.
